October to March is ideal, with cool desert mornings and pleasant evenings for camel and jeep safaris. December's Jaisalmer Desert Festival adds folk music, turban-tying contests and camel polo to the itinerary.
Jaisalmer has its own airport with seasonal flights from Delhi and Mumbai. The railway station connects well to Jodhpur, Jaipur and Delhi overnight. For flexible sightseeing, a private car from Jodhpur (about 5–6 hours) is a popular option.
